There are many opportunities for spiritual experiences and growth at Holy Name of Jesus School. Weekly masses and liturgical services are held at Holy Name of Jesus Church and all families are encouraged to attend with their children. We offer a Living Rosary for all students and their families during the month of October, which is also when we celebrate Reverence for Life Week.
Throughout the school year, all of the students are exposed to the many charisms of the Jesuit and Mercy traditions. There are opportunities for giving to those less fortunate in our community through the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a ministry of Holy Name of Jesus Church. The Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Christmas Giving Tree are two examples of how we encourage our children to help others. The Holy Name of Jesus Mission Club has adopted as its ministry the Corpus Christi Church in El Paso, Texas and the Sisters of Mercy Mission in Laredo, Texas.
First Holy Communion is received by the second graders in the spring of each school year. Students are prepared on a daily basis for the reception of this most important sacrament of our faith. As part of their preparation, they receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation. Also in the spring, we honor our Most Holy Blessed Mother Mary by a traditional May Crowning and Rosary Procession to Holy Name of Jesus Church on St. Charles Avenue.
At Holy Name of Jesus School we incorporate our spirituality and love of God in each and every aspect of our Holy Name of Jesus Parish and School Family.
