Ms. Melissa Puglia is beginning her 18th year as an educator with 15 years of teaching experience in the classroom. Ms. Puglia graduated from Mount Carmel Academy and Louisiana State University. She attended the University of Hull as an exchange student during her junior year in college. Ms. Puglia earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and her Reading Specialist Certificate from the University of New Orleans. She is trained as an ADHD coach, a Reading Specialist, and a Dyslexia Screener/Consultant.
As the Dean of Academics at Holy Name of Jesus School, Ms. Puglia’s responsibilities are assisting the Principal with instructional leadership with curriculum development and implementation, teacher evaluations and mentoring, parent communication, standardized testing, and monitoring student academic progress for PK3-7th grades. Also, Ms. Puglia loves running and coaching our students on the Cross Country team. She enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, visiting with her Godsons, and walking her Yorkie, Tootsie, around her neighborhood. Ms. Puglia is thrilled to begin her third year as an HNJ Gator and hopes to continue to foster a love of learning within the Holy Name community.
