I am so happy to be returning to HNJ as the 1st grade teacher for the remainder of the school year. I will tell you briefly a little bit about myself. I attended HNJ many years ago as a 7th and 8th grader. My best friends today are graduates of Holy Name, as well as my husband, Brent Petagna. I graduated from Mercy High School and LSU where I earned a degree in elementary and special education. I furthered my love for education by completing my masters in early elementary and special education at the University of New Orleans. I taught for three years at St. Francis of Assisi and then for thirty plus years at HNJ! I recently retired to have more time with my family, but “Forever HNJ” keeps pulling me back! I have taught middle school, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade! I love them all.
I enjoy the outdoors and the sun, although I know the sun doesn’t love me! I play a lot of tennis, I like to walk, bike, read, hang out with my grandchildren and children!! My children, Meghan, Jansen and Cooper are all HNJ graduates. My grandchildren Lucy and Eloise are in kindergarten and second grade this year at HNJ. As you can see, I have a lot of history at this very wonderful school!
