Dear HNJ Community,
It is with great excitement that I announce the appointment of Mrs. Grace King as our new Dean of Academic Innovation for the 2021-2022 school year. This new role merges the oversight of our technology and academic programs. Mrs. King is a familiar member of the HNJ community, as she taught first grade at Holy Name of Jesus from 2016-2020. She has experience teaching in both Catholic and public schools in New Orleans and in southwest Louisiana. She brings a strong academic background to this role, having earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from McNeese State University and nearing completion of a master’s degree in educational leadership from LSU Shreveport.
Mrs. King’s primary role will be to serve as a teacher of teachers, combining pedagogy and technology coaching. She will also coordinate a newly established Academic Leadership Team that will consist of HNJ teachers who are currently pursuing educational leadership roles. This team will meet weekly to support the school’s academic goals and assist teachers in achieving those goals. To facilitate this role, Mrs. King’s office will be located in a classroom on the second floor.
Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. King has been trained in many programs including Daily 5, Kagan strategies, Whole-Brain teaching, and Responsive Classroom. We welcome Mrs. King and her enthusiastic approach to helping teachers self-actualize with resources and best practices.
Mrs. King is looking forward to working alongside our administrative team in supporting our passionate and hard-working faculty and staff. She is eager to collaborate with teachers and help to integrate technology into the curriculum in a new way.
We are blessed to have her back as a Gator! Please join me in welcoming and supporting Mrs. King in her new role.
God Bless,
Kirsch J. Wilberg, Principal
