Lower School at Holy Name includes first, second, third, and fourth grade. We encourage a strong connection with both our students and parents, working together to understand, guide, and nurture through the elementary years. Teachers use current and innovative curriculum in our six core subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Reading, and Religion. Library, Art, Music, Spanish, Computer, and P.E. further enrich the learning experience. All teachers work closely with our Dean of Academics as we integrate our 1:1 Chromebook program and Interactive Boards into our daily lesson plans.
Girls and Boys in Lower School also get to have a lot of fun with some extra special activities and programs that make Holy Name unique! First Graders learn to read independently as they grow in success with the Accelerated Reader program. Second Graders come together and prepare to receive two sacraments, First Reconciliation and First Communion. Third Graders experience the joy of Zoo School at our neighboring Audubon Zoo. They walk to the zoo and enjoy learning about different animals and habitats for an entire trimester of science class! Fourth Graders become authors and illustrators with our Written and Illustrated Program. These programs in Lower School add that extra fun to our curriculum that helps students develop a love of learning at Holy Name..
