As we seek to position ourselves as an innovative Catholic school rooted in Jesuit tradition and providing a nurturing environment for children from infants through middle school, Holy Name of Jesus School recognized that it was a perfect time to modernize our brand to better reflect who we are today and where we are headed in the future.
Symbolism
Each day when our faculty and students pray together, we end our prayers with “Most Holy Name of Jesus, Forever in our Hearts.” The Forever in our Hearts logo features the letters HNJ (Holy Name of Jesus) wrapped in the nurturing arms of an open-ended heart.
As we updated our logo, it was important to maintain symbolic elements from our previous crest. Topping off the heart is the familiar cross that contains the letters IHS, which is a Christogram, or an abbreviation for the Most Holy Name of Jesus. The IHS Christogram is also a prominent element within the Jesuit (Society of Jesus) logo, and we included it in the new Holy Name of Jesus School logo to reflect our Jesuit identity.
The new Holy Name of Jesus School logo includes a reference to the history and longevity of the school with the phrase “Since 1891.” This reminds our community that we have been and will continue to be committed to Catholic education in New Orleans for many years to come.
The color selections for our new logo feature an updated red and the addition of navy blue to reflect our school uniform colors of red and navy. The logo can be displayed in two-color and one-color versions.
The newest feature of our logo, “A Loyola University Partner,” is a reference to our newly announced partnership with Loyola University. We feel strongly that our partnership with Loyola demonstrates our commitment to innovation and lifelong learning for our students and faculty. This one-of-a-kind partnership is designed to help us all to grow in community, faith, learning, ministry and mission.
Why change the logo?
As we seek to position ourselves as an innovative Catholic school rooted in Jesuit tradition and providing a nurturing environment for children from infants through middle school, Holy Name of Jesus School recognized that it was a perfect time to modernize our logo to better reflect who we are today and where we are headed in the future.
What will happen to our uniforms?
Our uniforms will remain the same in terms of our plaid skirts, khaki bottoms, red, white and navy tops, and red gingham dresses. We will update our uniforms with the new logo beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. A transitional plan will be implemented during which students will be allowed to continue wearing items with the old logo for a couple of years. We will communicate more about this in the near future.
What do the symbols in our new logo represent?
Each day when our faculty and students pray together, we end our prayers with “Most Holy Name of Jesus, Forever in our Hearts.” The Forever in our Hearts logo features the letters HNJ (Holy Name of Jesus) wrapped in the nurturing arms of an open-ended heart.

Who designed the new logo?
In 2021, Holy Name of Jesus Parish and School decided to partner with eCatholic to design and host our parish and school websites. It was only natural, then, for us to also partner with eCatholic’s creative team to design our new logo. Many months of planning went into the design of our new logo, in partnership with stakeholders that included faculty, parents, alumni, and students. The new design includes elements from our previous crest as well as new symbolism to reflect who we are today.
Can I purchase HNJ merchandise with the new logo?
Yes, we plan to launch new items in our spirit shop soon. Stay tuned for more information!
